In 1977 Herb Falk, a fan of nutritious eating and supplements, started a small company in his garage on Long Island, NY. Herb was a vitamin salesman by trade and his customers had long requested a central distributor for all the lines they carried. Herb was passionate about product and customer service and by 1991 Super Nutrition had a warehouse in Oceanside, NY and sales in the millions. By the end of the decade, Super Nutrition had a state-of-the-art automated warehouse on each coast.

In 2003, Super Nutrition was renamed Select Nutrition Distributors, Inc. United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) acquired Select Nutrition in 2004 and reorganized the warehouses, keeping one in Philadelphia, PA and using the UNFI Rocklin, CA, warehouse for the west.

Today, Select Nutrition supplies vitamins, supplements and personal care products to over 8,500 retailers.
